The Best Microsoft Office Alternative You’ve Never Heard Of - florencesontoort
Business silent revolves around the Mammoth Three computer software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. And Microsoft still charges an fortify and a leg for Office licenses. What's a Cash-strapped small workshop to do?
In that respect are, naturally, a number of freebie alternatives to Microsoft Place, most notably OpenOffice.org and LibreOffice. However, OpenOffice faces an uncertain rising, and LibreOffice is bogged down by a clumsy, outdated user interface and iffy file compatibility.
Allow me to propose a lesser-known alternative: Kingsoft Office Suite 2022. I've been test-driving it for the past hardly a weeks, and I actually like it.
Kingsoft's suite consists of three modules: the aptly named Writer, Spreadsheets, and Presentation. They're fully Indian file-compatible with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; I had atomic number 102 problem burden my existing documents OR saving new ones in Microsoft formats.
Along the feature front, information technology matches awake pretty well–though there's one super ace sprouted the Kingsoft suite's sleeve: a tabbed view for documents, something Microsoft Office still lacks. Apiece open document gets its own tab, just similar different Web sites get tabs in your browser. That makes switching between them some easier than in Microsoft Office.
The simply question is, which version of the suite should you get? Kingsoft offers Free, Standard, and Professional editions, the last mentioned ii priced at $49.95 and $69.95, severally.
My advice: start with the free one. Its interface is straight off familiar to anyone fluent in Microsoft Office 2003, and the alone large characteristic it lacks is macro instruction support. (Update: The slaveless version also lacks the ability to save documents in Office 2007/2010 formats, though it tin open them.)
That said, if your employees are already customary to Microsoft's Laurel wreath interface, consider investment in Kingsoft Standard operating theater Professional. Some give you a choice between the aforementioned Power 2003-title interface or one that looks straight out of Agency 2022. In other words, it's a Laurel wreath knockoff, and a damn good unitary. (You can actually substitution stake and forth between the two, a nice touch.)
If you want to learn more, Kingsoft has a page devoted to the differences between Office Free, Standard, and Professional.
For the show, I've been using both the Unloosen and Pro versions on different machines, and I've found both to be excellent. But I prefer Pro, by and large because I like the Ribbon-style interface.
And at $69.95, Kingsoft Office Suite Professional costs considerably to a lesser degree Microsoft Office Paid 2022, which starts at $349.99. Granted, the last mentioned also includes Lookout, Publishing house, and Access, so it's non quite an an apples-to-apples comparison.
However, if you don't need those tools, simply do need the Bad Three, I definitely think Kingsoft Office is worth a bet.
